Split experience for a Teacher Teaching on Call (TTOC)
Sparkrock 365 provides the capability for you to split an employee experience ledger entry into multiple entries. This action is necessary when you want to transfer Teacher Teaching on Call (TTOC) experience to regular teaching experience.
For example, in British Columbia, TTOC experience is transferred to regular teacher experience in multiples of 17. If you have an employee experience ledger entry that has a total for Experience Days of 36.5, before you can complete the transfer, you must split the employee experience ledger entry to have a total for Experience Days that is divisible by 17, such as 17 or 34.
TTOC experience split validation
When you select an employee experience ledger entry, and then try to split experience, Sparkrock 365 performs the following validations:
Verifies that the HR position class that is associated with the employee experience ledger entry has a Pension Position Class of TTOC. To determine the HR position class, Sparkrock 365 uses the HR position class that is assigned on the HR position that is associated with an HR employee assignment.
Verifies the amount that you are trying to transfer is a multiple of the value that is specified for TTOC Experience Days for Transfer on the Advanced HR Setup page.
Processing of the split
When processing the split, Sparkrock 365 performs the following calculation for Seniority Years for each split entry:
Seniority Years = (Experience Days / HR Position Days/Year) X Experience FTE.
After performing the calculation, Sparkrock 365 reverses the original entry and creates two entries for the split records.
For example, consider the following scenario:
- There is an employee experience ledger entry of 40 days.
- The user specifies to split 34 days.
For this scenario, Sparkrock 365 performs the following steps:
- Reverses the original employee experience ledger entry of 40 days.
- Creates an employee experience ledger entry for 34 days.
- Creates another employee experience ledger entry for the remaining 6 days.
For the reversed entry, Seniority Years is a negative amount that is equal to the original entry, for example, -40.
