Set Up Causes of Absence
Create a cause of absence list to define all possible absences in your organization. Typically, causes of absence include vacation and sick time, but can also include other types of absences that your organization wants to track, such as bereavement, jury duty, carry over vacation, and excess vacation.
Note
Note:
Cause of absence codes are defaulted on attendance plans. Every time you update a cause of absence code, you must update any attendance plans that include the cause of absence code.
Cause of absence categories and entries
Causes of absence can be set up with a Type of Category or Entry. Entries roll up into a specific category. For example, you could have a Vacation cause of absence that has the Type of Category. Under the Vacation category, you could have Vacation - Current Year, Vacation - Carry Forward, and Vacation - Excess causes of absence that have the Type of Entry.
After you set up categories and entries, cause of absence amounts for a specific category can be summed.
Note
Note:
When using attendance plans, it is recommended that you set up categories first, and then set up the related entries. By setting up the categories, you can organize the causes of absence that are displayed in mySparkrock and if required, also facilitate sequencing. When setting up a cause of absence with the type of entry, you must apply the category. For this reason, you must set up the categories first.
