Import compensation journals
Sparkrock 365 includes compensation journal import functionality that provides the capability for you to bring data directly into the compensation journal. Included allocation account sets can differ from assignment allocations.
The import is file-based using a Microsoft Excel / CSV-format template. To download the compensation journal import template, select the following link:

Import the data exchange definition template
A data exchange definition is required to use the compensation journal import functionality. The data exchange definition template specifies the fields to be imported and how they map to the fields in Sparkrock 365.

The data exchange definition template is automatically loaded into Sparkrock 365 for new installations and when a company is created. Typically, you do not have to import the data exchange definition template.
To import the data exchange definition template
To download the latest data exchange definition template, select the following link:
Choose , enter data exchange definitions, and then choose the related link.
The Data Exchange Definitions page opens.
On the action bar, choose Import/Export > Import Data Exchange Definition.
An import dialog box appears.
Choose Choose….
A system file navigation dialog appears.
Browse to the file that you downloaded, select the file, and then to import the file, choose Open. The template appears in the Data Exchange Definitions page with the code COMP JNL IMPORT and the name Compensation Journal Import.
If more than one data definition is required, advanced users can edit the XML file and change the values. Typically, this is not necessary.
Prepare the import file
The Microsoft Excel file provided matches the data exchange definition template provided by Sparkrock. It includes example lines to guide you. To use this template, fill out any necessary date in the columns that are included in the file, under the corresponding column heading. You do not need to delete the column headers in the Microsoft Excel file, but it is recommended that you remove the sample lines. Before importing the file into Sparkrock 365, you must save the Excel file in Comma Separated Value (CSV) format.
Perform the import
Choose , enter compensation journal, and then choose the related link.
If more than one compensation journal template exists in your environment, the Compensation Journal Templates page displays. You must select a template, and then choose OK.
The Compensation Journal page opens.
In Batch Name, specify the batch that is to be used for this compensation journal.
In Pay Cycle Period, specify the Pay Cycle Period that is to be used for this compensation journal.
Data can only be imported into this pay cycle period.
On the action bar, choose Actions > Import from Template.
If necessary, choose the Compensation Journal Import Format that you added as the data exchange definition template above.
To have the import remove any existing lines from the page, turn on Clear Batch.
In File Name, choose .
A system file navigation dialog appears.
Browse to the file that you created above, select the file, and then to import the file, choose Open.
If no errors are reported, to import the lines, choose OK.
