Set up HR deduction codes for liability posting to the General Ledger (G/L)
Sparkrock 365 provides various configuration options for setting up HR deduction codes for liability posting to the General Ledger (G/L).
HR deduction codes where the Type is Deduction or Withholding
For all HR deduction codes where the Type is Deduction or Withholding, it is recommended that you set up default dimensions for each code that is to be used for the liability entry. You can also configure the Liability G/L Account No. on the HR Deduction Codes page to have Sparkrock 365 use this General Ledger (G/L) account for the liability entry.
To set up HR deduction codes for liability posting to the general ledger where the Type is Deduction or Withholding
Choose

The HR deduction codes page opens.
To set up the default dimensions for an HR deduction code where the Type is Deduction or Withholding, perform the following steps:
- Select the HR deduction code, and then on the action bar, choose Related > Dimensions.
The Default Dimensions page opens. - Specify values as required.
- To return to the HR deduction codes page, choose
.
- Select the HR deduction code, and then on the action bar, choose Related > Dimensions.
To set up dimension mapping for an HR deduction code where the Type is Deduction or Withholding, perform the following steps:
- Select the HR deduction code, and then on the action bar, choose Related > Dimension Mapping.
The Dimension Mapping page opens. - Specify values as required.
- To return to the HR deduction codes page, choose
.
- Select the HR deduction code, and then on the action bar, choose Related > Dimension Mapping.
If you intend to post payroll liabilities to accounts payable, in Payable Vendor No., specify a value.
HR deduction codes where the Type is Employer Contribution or Employer Tax
You can configure Sparkrock 365 to apply dimension mapping rules to the liability portion of employer contributions and employer taxes when sending related compensation journal lines to payroll.
To set up HR deduction codes for liability posting to the general ledger where the Type is Employer Contribution or Employer Tax
Choose
, enter hr deduction codes, and then choose the related link.
The HR deduction codes page opens.
For every HR deduction code with the Type of Employer Tax and Employer Contribution, perform the following steps:
Select the HR deduction code, and then on the action bar, choose Related > Dimension Mapping (Liabilities for Emp. Contributions).
The Dimension Mapping page opens.
In Criteria Type, specify the from dimension.
In Criteria Filter, specify a filter or a specific value.
A * indicates all values.
In Result Type, specify the to dimension.
In Result Value, specify the value that is to be applied when sending compensation journal lines to payroll.
Processing of liability allocations for G/L accounts when sending compensation journal lines to payroll
When sending compensation journal lines to payroll, Sparkrock 365 processes allocations for G/L accounts as described in the sections below.
No dimension mapping entries exist for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes
If no dimension mapping entries exist for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes, Sparkrock 365 applies mapping based on the rules that are defined on the Dimension Mapping page and the related Liability G/L Account No. field on the HR Deduction Codes page.
Dimension mapping entries exist for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes and a Liability G/L Account No. exists
If mapping rules exist on the Dimension Mapping page for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes and a Liability G/L Account No. is specified on the HR Deduction Code page, Sparkrock 365 allocates liabilities as follows, depending on whether G/L account mapping rules exist:
No mapping rules: Sparkrock 365 uses the value from the Liability G/L Account No. field to allocate the liability.
Mapping rules exist: Sparkrock 365 applies the specified mapping rules to allocate the liability to the appropriate G/L account.
Dimension mapping entries exist for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes and no Liability G/L Account No. exists
If mapping rules exist on the Dimension Mapping page for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes and no Liability G/L Account No. is specified on the HR Deduction Code page, Sparkrock 365 allocates liabilities as follows, depending on whether G/L account mapping rules exist:
No mapping rules: Sparkrock 365 allocates the liability to the G/L account that is specified in the Account No. field on the Payroll Earnings Posting Setup page for the related employer contribution payroll code.
Mapping rules exist: Sparkrock 365 applies the specified mapping rules to allocate the liability to the appropriate G/L account.
Processing of allocations for G/L dimensions when sending compensation journal lines to payroll
When sending compensation journal lines to payroll, Sparkrock 365 processes allocations for G/L dimensions as described in the sections below.
No dimension mapping entries exist for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes
If no mapping rules exist on the Dimension Mapping page for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes, Sparkrock 365 applies mapping based on the rules that are defined on the Dimension Mapping page.
Dimension mapping entries exist for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes
If mapping rules exist on the Dimension Mapping page for liabilities for employer contributions or employer taxes, Sparkrock 365 uses the mapping rules to identify, and then replace the dimension values for each allocation line.
