    Set up absence calendars

    Absence calendars are set up on the HR Base Calendars page. Typically, a generic absence calendar is set up first to define the working days for your organization. After the generic absence calendar is set up, the generic absence calendar can be assigned on the Advanced HR Setup page, in Nonworking HR Calendar Code. Anything that is specified as a non-working day in that calendar is not used in the calculation of elapsed days for absence requests. This design works the same as the design for weekends.

    Weekly work schedules

    Employees can have various weekly work schedules. To manage absences for these various work schedules, you can create additional absence calendar on the HR Base Calendars page, and then assign the calendars on the Attendance Plan and Employee Attendance Plan pages. These additional absence calendars are different than the generic absence calendar that is assigned on the Advanced HR Setup page, in Nonworking HR Calendar Code.

    An absence calendar that is assigned on an Employee Attendance Plan page takes precedence over an absence calendar that is assigned on an Attendance Plan page. An absence calendar that is assigned on an Attendance Plan page takes precedence over the absence calendar that is assigned on the Advanced HR Setup page.

    If you update an absence calendar on an attendance plan, you must specify whether to update the absence calendar for all employees with this plan or to update only employees that have the same absence calendar as on the attendance plan.

    To assign an absence calendar on an attendance plan

    1. Choose Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature., enter attendance plans, and then choose the related link.

      The Attendance Plans page opens.

    2. Select the attendance plan for which you want to assign an absence calendar, and then on the action bar, choose Edit.

      The Attendance Plan page opens.

    3. On the General FastTab, in Absence Calendar, specify the absence calendar that you want to assign.

    To assign an absence calendar on an employee attendance plan

    1. Choose Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature., enter employees, and then choose the related link.

      The Employees page opens.

    2. Select the employee for which you want to assign an absence calendar, and then on the action bar, choose Related > Human Resources > Attendance Plan.

      The Employee Attendance Plan page opens.

    3. On the Attendance Plan FastTab, in Absence Calendar, specify the absence calendar that you want to assign.
